When one goes to most doctors anymore, it seems to be standard procedure to have bloodwork done to see what what kinds of medications one should be taking.
3/4 of the people I know are on anti-depressants or are diagnosed as bi-polar as a result of these tests. Are there truly that many people depressed to the point of medication and in need of psychoactive medicines for their mood swings?
I know there are people that are truly in need of and do benefit from these drugs, but it seems to me to be more of a way to have people buy more medications.
Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed this trend for many years, and it seems to be standard procedure.
The things that bothers me the most, is that it seems to be happening with alot of children. I guess it's easier to keep these kids drugged and compliant than to talk to them and find out what is REALLY the problem.
Is it the pharmaceutical companies? Do the doctors get cuts from the meds they prescribe? All of the above?
Just something to consider....

No, you ain't the only one who feels this way. The doctors and drug companies got 'em a real racket going. You are right, there are lotsa folks on these mood changing drugs. Makes me wonder what they really are like without the drugs. Between antidepressants and pain meds, lotsa folks are mentally messed up.
Now, as far as kids, some good ol' butt bustin' would help most behavioral problems but heaven forbid someone whoop a child and teach em' any manners or lessons. My gran'kids know I will bust some hinny if they misbehave and so will their parents. Holy hog farts, if these parents today ain't a buncha wimps.
Nice handle by the way, Maia Luna.

The doctors and pharmacies do have ties concerning cut-backs and perks. For anyone who has never seen it, I recommend the documentary/movie, "Sicko". Whether or not you agree with Michael Moore, you can't really disagree with the information about our health care that is presented in the movie. I have lived in the European community and can honestly confirm everything that is mentioned in the film.

Michael Moore hits the nail on the head with his movies. I haven't seen Sicko yet....sounds like another to not miss.
This may seem way out of line, but with all these people on psychoactive meds, they are more open to suggestion. How much does the government control the pharmaceutical companies? Is this trend towards "depression" and medication one of the reasons people are compliant when it comes to questioning the current state of our government?
I'm not usually a big conspiracy theorist, but it just seems odd to me.

I don't think you are out of line. It's a very good question. It probably makes us straight (drug free) minded people seem radical to the drugged out masses in this country. It really does seem that about everyone I know is on some sort of antidepressant of some sort. This actually scares me a little.

In school we were taught the medication was the last thing you try when it comes to depression. When you have a chemical depression you need the medication to alter the way your brain works, but for some people the depression can be solved by getting out in the sun, doing somekind of activity with friends or family, we learned that eating three to four banana's a dy can alter the chemicles in your brain enough hat you may not even need the rx medications.
style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #b5b5b5"There are people out there who really do need medication to help with their depression or other mental needs, however there are many people out there who just n eed a change of living, activity, or something to help them out of the slump.
style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #b5b5b5"I don't think dr's spend enough time listening to the patient they say oh you are depressed take this pill you will be ok. So much easier then finding out the cause!
